I work with a great team of local glass artists. We draw ideas in chalk on the concrete floor to set up for the next piece and calculate every move. It takes a great team to turn a chunk of molten glass into an object of wonder.
I began blowing glass to make rondelles for my leaded glass panels. I blew the red and purple rondelle to the left and used it in the Desert Half Circle Window up above.
Soon I was blowing glass because it is exciting. When I drop color onto a clear bubble,
it flows over the surface and the glass just comes alive. Working with glass, whether
it's blowing glass or creating flat art glass panels, is painting with light.
I learned leaded glass methods from John Orr, an expert in Tiffany and Arts and Crafts leaded glass. We worked on scenic designs. My own work has been abstract. Recently, I have returned to representational designs.
For over twenty years, I taught glass making in public schools. Now, I am a fulltime glass artist and occasionally teach glass workshops.
